The Grêmio of Porto Alegre has accepted Boca's offer for goalkeeper Agustín Marchesín, who will join the Argentine club for 1,500,000 dollars for the entirety of his rights. The player from Lanús will travel to Buenos Aires to complete the transfer with the "Xeneize" team.
The agreement was finalized on Sunday night after intense talks, according to sources close to the negotiation to the Agencia Noticias Argentinas. It is expected that Boca will offer Marchesín a two-season contract with the possibility of extending it for another year.
The acquisition of Marchesín by Boca comes because one of their goalkeepers, Sergio Romero, had to undergo surgery on his right knee. In their squad, the La Ribera team has Leandro Brey and Javier García, who had announced his retirement for the end of 2024, but ultimately decided to renew his contract at the request of the management.
Despite the new Grêmio coach, Gustavo Quinteros, asking Marchesín to stay at the club, the Argentine goalkeeper decided to accept Boca's offer. During his time at Grêmio, Marchesín played 28 matches and stood out in the Brasileirao tournament as one of the outstanding figures. He is expected to have a starting role at Boca Juniors under the direction of Fernando Gago.
